Abstract
These Regulations revoke and replace the Fresh Meat (Hygiene and Inspection) Regulations 1992. They give effect to various EC Council Directives. They transfer the responsibility for their execution and enforcement from local authorities to the Minister. Regulations 3 specifies premises to which these Regulations do not apply. The 26 regulations are divided into 7 Parts: Preliminary (I); Licensing of slaughterhouses, cutting premises, cold stores, farmed game handling facilities and farmed game processing facilities (II); Supervision and control of premises (III); Conditions for the marketing of fresh meat (IV); Admission to and detention in slaughterhouses and farmed game processing facilities of animals and carcasses (III); Administration, penalties and enforcement (VI); Miscellaneous and supplementary (VII).
