Groundwater Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2009 (S.I. No. 254 of 2009).

These Regulations implement for Northern Ireland Community legislation on pollution of groundwater. They provide rules for the granting by the Department of the Environment of a permit under these Regulations or a consent under section under Article 7A of the Water (Northern Ireland) Order 1999 and ensure the review of all authorizations for compliance with the conditions of authorization. In addition, the Regulations create an offence of discharge of a hazardous substance or non-hazardous pollutant without a permit, provide for powers of enforcement of the Department and prescribe penalties for offences committed under these Regulations.
