Abstract
These Regulations, in respect of Northern Ireland, provide for the enforcement of Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council, which lays down harmonized rules for the approval of active substances and the placing on the market of plant protection products. The Regulations, among other things: provide for emergency measures to be taken in case treated seeds are likely to constitute a serious risk to human or animal health or to the environment; designate the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development as the competent authority for the purposes of Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009; introduce various restrictions and rules regarding the placing on the market and use of (treated) plant protection products and adjuvants; provide for enforcement of Community legislation and these Regulations; and define offences.
