Abstract
These Regulations appoint the Scottish Ministers as the competent authority for the purposes of Regulation (EC) No. 999/2001 of the European Parliament and of the Council laying down rules for the prevention, control and eradication of certain transmissible spongiform encephalopathies. They provide for, among other things for approval, authorization, licensing and registration of premises and define duties of occupiers of such premises. In addition, in the Schedule, the Regulations set out various rules relative to monitoring for TSEs, control and eradication of TSEs in bovine animals, sheep and goats, use of feedingstuffs removal and treatment of specified risk material and the dispatch of certain live animals, meat and certain specified risk material to other member States and to third countries.
