Abstract
These Regulations amend the Welfare of Animals (Slaughter or Killing) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1996 to insert a new Schedule 7A to permit the killing of poultry and other birds by exposure to gas mixtures elsewhere than in a slaughterhouse. The Regulations also give effect to amendments, made by Council Regulation (EC) No 1/2005 on the protection of animals during transport and to Council Directive 93/119/EC on the use of instruments which administer electric shocks to adult bovines and adult pigs.
