Abstract
The Act applies to livestock animals, pet animals, and bird, reptiles and insects, but does not apply to bees. The Minister may by Order apply, subject to such exceptions, adaptations and modifications as may be therein set out, the provisions of this Act and of any regulations made thereunder to poultry. Inspectors may be appointed under section 3. Diseases among animals shall be notified by the owner and diseased animals kept separate from other animals in accordance with section 4. Sections 5 and 6 set out public powers with respect of infected places or areas, whereas sections 8 and 9 concern disposal of infected animals. Regulation making powers of the Governor-in-Council are set out in sections 12 and 14. Importation of insects, birds or reptiles requires a license under section 13. Sections 16 and 17 concern quarantine of animals. Sections 18 and following provisions concern powers of enforcement, and prescribe penalties and offences.
