Abstract
This Technical Regulation has been developed in accordance with the national and international requirements in the field of protection against radiation, nuclear safety and security. It establishes the basic requirements for the preparation, updating, production and use of the radioactive waste burial safety report. This Technical Regulation applies to the radioactive waste burial site in Georgia, which, in accordance with the requirements of the Georgian legislation, belongs to a high radiation risk facility. It is mandatory for the owners of the radioactive waste burial ground to fulfill the requirements established by this Technical Regulation. The purpose of this Technical Regulation is to ensure an adequate level of safety of radioactive waste burial. The radioactive waste burial safety report should include: (a) content; (b) security strategy; (c) object description; (d) safety assessment; (e) limits, controls and conditions; (f) iteration and design optimization; (g) management of lack of clarity; and (h) unified justification of security. The results and conclusions of the safety assessment must be documented in the form of a safety report, which will reflect the complexity of the facility or activity and the radiation risks associated with it, in order to determine that the facility or activity complies with the requirements established by legislation. The procedure for the participation of interested parties should be written in the safety report. The radioactive waste burial safety report is subject to independent verification. The safety report must be updated every 10 years and, if necessary, in accordance with existing legislation.
