Abstract
Regulations to provide rules for hunting, the commercialization of dead or alive wild animals or trophies and various other matters for purposes of conservation and protection of wild animals.
The 19 regulations are divided into 4 Parts: Restrictions on Hunting, etc. (I); Game licenses (II); Game and trophy export permits (III); General (IV).
Regulations 1 to 4 introduce various measures for the protection of (wholly or partly) for excessive hunting. Hunting for young animals and species specified in the Second Schedule is prohibited. A close season is introduced and various hunting methods are prohibited. Game licenses are granted by the Chief Game and Wildlife Officer in the form specified in the Fifth Schedule. Reasons for refusal of license are listed in regulation 9. Provisions of Part III on exportation of animals or trophies shall be in addition of rules laid down in other laws of Ghana. Exportation of these items requires a permit granted by the Chief Game and Wildlife Officer in the form specified in the Seventh Schedule. Part IV concerns powers of Game Officers in respect of seizure of hunting gear, killing for personal defence and exemptions for Game Officers. (completed by eight Schedules)
