Abstract
The law sets forth measures for pollution control which may occur within the ports, coasts and open sea of the Greek territorial waters by vessels (tankers, military ships, etc.) flying Greek or foreign flag, in compliance with the provisions of the current international conventions. The law is composed as follows: definitions (art. 1); field of application (art. 2); prohibitions (art. 3); obligations for vessels and tankers (art. 4); obligations for facilities (art. 5); transferring of oil (art. 6); obligations for tanker captains (art. 7); additional obligations for tankers (art. 8); reception facilities (art. 9); existing and new facilities (art. 10); obligations for those responsible for polluting (art. 11); establishment of requirements (art. 12); sanctions (art. 13); procedure for ascertaining infringements (art. 14); establishment of regional pollution control stations (art. 15); new employment (art. 16); obligations of port authorities (art. 17); income from fines (art. 18); suitability control of cleaning agents (art. 19).
