Abstract
This Law regulates the basic principles and rules as regard the concept of cooperatives and cooperation, that is here defined as a voluntary, open and independent society run by its members, through their work and other activities or the use of its services, on the basis of commonality and mutual assistance, aimed at realize, promote and protect their individual and common economic, financial, social, educational, cultural and other needs and interests, in order to achieve the goals for which the cooperative was founded. The cooperative is based on the cooperative values: self-help, responsibility, democracy, equality, fairness and solidarity and the moral values of honesty, openness, social responsibility and care for others.
The text is divided into eleven main Chapters and 79 articles. Titles of Chapters are as follows: (I) Basic provisions; (II) Establishment of the cooperation; (III) Cooperative members; (IV) Cooperative bodies; (V) Properties; (VI) Cooperation operations and liability; (VII) Termination of cooperation; (VIII) Croatian cooperation Union and cooperative associations; (IX) Types of cooperatives that have specific features; (X) Supervision and penalty provisions; and (XI) Transitional and final provisions.
