Abstract
This Order prescribes measures aimed to prevent the spread and to control the harmful organism known as Mediterranean fruit fly - Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemann). The host plants of the Mediterranean fruit fly, in the sense of this Order, are: Acca sellowiana - feijoa, Citrus reticulata - mandarin, Citrus reticulata x Citrus aurantium - clementine, Citrus sinensis - orange, Citrus paradisi - grapefruit, Diospyros kaki - persimmon, Eryobotria japonica - nettle, Ficus carica - fig, Fortunella japonica - kumquat, Malus domestica - apple, Prunus armeniaca - apricot, Prunus domestica - plum, Prunus persica - peach and nectarine, Prunus salicina - Japanese plum, Pyrus communis – pear, Pyrus pyrifolia – nashi. Measures to prevent the spread and control of the Mediterranean fruit fly in threatened areas are laid down in article 4. Measures to prevent the spread and control of the Mediterranean fruit fly in an area of special economic importance are determined in article 5. Article 9 sets out the inspection supervision rules.
