Abstract
This Regulation prescribes quality requirements to be met in honey production and marketing, and related to: a) terms, definitions and general requirements; b) sensory properties and composition; c) additional labelling requirements.
Product names, except filtered honey and baker's honey, may be supplemented by data relating to: a) floral or vegetable origin, if the product is wholly or mainly from the indicated source and has the organoleptic, physico-chemical and microscopic characteristics of its source; b) regional, territorial or topographical origin, if the product comes entirely from the indicated source; c) specific quality criteria.
To determine product compliance with quality requirements prescribed by this Regulation and for the purpose of official controls, internationally recognized methods, such as methods approved by the Codex Alimentarius are used.
The Annex is an integral part of this Regulation.
