Abstract
These Regulations consolidate legislation in Ireland on contact of printed surface of regenerated cellulose film, plastics, ceramics and Vinyl Chloride Monomer with food. It gives effect to EU legislation on this matter: Commission Regulation (EC) No. 2023/2006 on good manufacturing practice for materials and articles intended to come into contact with food; Commission Directive 2007/19/EC of amending Directive 2002/72 relating to plastics materials and articles intended to come into contact with food and Council Directive 85/572/EEC laying down the list of simulants to be used for testing migration of constituents of plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with foodstuffs; Commission Regulation (EC) No. 372/2007 of laying down transitional migration limits for plasticisers in gasket in lids intended to come into contact with foods; Commission Directive 2007/42/EC relating to materials and articles made of regenerated cellulose film intended to come into contact with foodstuffs. These Regulations require manufacture, sale, handling, disposal, placing on the market, etc. to be in accordance with EU legislation and prescribe measures of enforcement and offences.
