Abstract
These Instructions aim to protect the public health by (i) prohibiting to house and raise animals of all kinds, including poultry and birds, in residential neighborhoods within the boundaries of Baghdad Municipality or within the borders of the municipality in the governorates, districts and sub-districts in all countries; (ii) permitting individual rearing of poultry in residential neighborhoods, provided that the number does not exceed 15 and it is for personal use and not for commercial purposes; (iii) permitting to house and raise animals in residential areas that are predominantly rural, after conducting an inspection by the competent health authorities to confirm that they do not pose a threat to public health; (iv) prohibiting to establish or open any shop for a poultry field project or for raising animals without obtaining a health license from the competent health authority; and (v) establishing that committees shall be established at local level.
