Official Proclamation regarding exploitation of the maritime zone contiguous to the territorial sea of 23 November 1957.

This Proclamation asserts the right of Iraq property of and “exclusive general jurisdiction” over natural resources existing on the sea bed and in the subsoil underneath it of the maritime zone contiguous to the territorial sea of Iraq. Iraq shall likewise have the exclusive right to explore and exploit such resources.
