Abstract
The present Regulation, issued by the Ministry of Industry and Innovation, applies to the importation of all kinds of animal products and other products that may carry infectious agents causing diseases in animals and humans. The 12 articles of this Regulation are divided into the following chapters: I. Purpose and scope; II. Prevention of animal diseases; III. General provisions on imports. The Regulation contains a list of animal products and other products whose import is prohibited, which includes raw meat; animal feed containing raw animal products from producers outside the European Economic Area; any kind of bag or other packaging that has been used in agriculture or has been in contact with animals, animal products and animal waste; used agricultural machinery and equipment; used fishing gear; etc. These products might however be imported given that an import license is obtained from the Icelandic Food and Veterinary Authority according to the rules laid down in this Regulation.
