Presidential Decree No. 226 implementing Directive No. 88/407/EEC making provisions of sanitary police applicable to intracommunity exchanges and to the import of bovine frozen semen, according also to Directive No. 90/120/EEC.

The Decree establishes the conditions according to which the intracommunity exchanges and the import from third countries may be allowed. The Annexes determine all the controls to be carried out in the collection centres regarding the semen quality, the hygiene requirements, the routine inspections of animals in the semen collection centres.
