Abstract
This Provincial Act regulates wildlife protection and hunting in the Autonomous Province of Trento. Wildlife includes mammals and birds, as referred to in article 2. Particularly protected species are those listed out in article 2, paragraph 1,a),b) and c) of Act No. 157 of 11 February 1992. The Act is divided into seven Parts. Part I contains general principles. Birdcatching is prohibited on the provincial territory (art. 3). The protection and the improvement of wildlife shall be enacted through the Fauna Plan, to be adopted by the Provincial Council, upon the guidelines and advices submitted by the Provincial Fauna Observatory (art. 5). The Provincial Council may create the following: a) protected areas intended for fauna reproduction, where any form of hunting shall be forbidden; b) repopulation and catch areas for game reproduction; c) public and private centres for game production. Part II of the Act regulates the powers and duties in matter of wildlife protection and hunting entrusted to: a) the Provincial Council (art. 10); b) the Provincial Fauna Observatory (art. 11); c) the Provincial Fauna Committee (art. 12); d) the Service for Fauna (art. 13); e) the Forestry Service ; f) the Managing Entity. Part IV concerns hunting, giving particular regard to authorized hunting gear (art. 25) and to species that may be hunted and hunting periods (art. 29). The introduction of fauna species into the provincial territory for repopulation and restoration purposes may take place upon previous issuance of a special authorization by the Provincial Fauna Committee (art. 34). Further provisions refer to the capture and use of animals for scientific purposes (art. 35) and to the keeping of animals (art. 36). Part V regulates hunting licence and its renewal.

This Provincial Act repeals Provincial Act No. 38 of 5 October 1976 and Provincial Act No. 56 of 9 December 1978. Article 106 of Provincial Act No. 8 of 10 April 1980 is repealed as well.
