Abstract
This Regional Act makes provision in matter of apiculture by taking into particular account ecosystem preservation and the protection of biodiversity. The Act is divided into four Titles, as follows: (I) Aims; (II) Interventions; (III) Regulation; (IV) Final provisions.
Firstly, article 2 lays down some definitions so as to clearly define the application scope of the Act. Article 3, under Title II, specifies the particular interventions to be undertaken in order to attain the objectives above-mentioned. The Region shall allocate financial resources that shall be devoted, inter alia, to the purchase of equipment, to the performance of specific programmes regarding the breeding and distribution of queen bees, training and technical assistance to bee keepers, health programmes, experimentation, etc. Article 5 specifies the requirements to be met in order to benefit from these financial resources. In accordance with article 4, the Regional Council shall adopt a three-year programme on apiculture. Title III establishes detailed provisions relating to the keeping of apiaries (art. 6), the register for apiculture (art. 7), the sanitary competences to be performed by the local health authorities (art. 8), measures to be adopted to prevent the outbreak of diseases (art. 9), setting up of protected zones (art. 11). Article 15 lays down administrative sanctions.
