Abstract
This Act regulates various aspects of the manufacturing, importation and placing on the market in Kenya of feed for animals and fertilizing substances. “Animal foodstuff” and “fertilizer” are defined in section 2 but the Minister may declare, by notice in the Gazette, other substances to be an animal foodstuff for the purposes of this Act. Fertilizers and animal feed shall be approved under this Act and only approved fertilizer and feed may be placed on the market. Fertilizer or feed shall be conform to standards or specifications prescribed by Rules made under this Act. Certain fertilizer and feed from animal origin shall only be imported with a certificate regarding sterilization from the country of origin. The Act prescribes the requirement of a licence and conditions for sterilizing of fertilizer and feed of animal origin. Other provisions of this Act concern inspection and analyses and regulation-making powers of the Minister.
