Abstract
This Act regulates the manufacture, prescription and use of, and trade in, drugs and poisons used for human beings and animals and in agriculture and other activities. The Act also provides for the appointment of a Pharmacy and Poisons Board and a registrar of the Board who shall act as Chief Pharmacist.
The Minister shall appoint the Pharmacy and Poisons Board. The Board shall be a body corporate. The registrar of the Board shall act as Chief Pharmacist and shall keep a register of pharmacists and a role of pharmaceutical technologists. The Board shall prepare and submit to the Minister a list of the substances that shall be treated as poisons for the purposes of this Act. The Board may grant licences for the wholesale or retail trading in poisons. The registrar shall keep a register of all licences issued by the Board. The Act lays down rules for the placing on the market, packing and labelling of poisons. The Board may grant licences for the production of medical substances.
