Water (Harvesting and Storage) Regulations, Legal Notice no. 140 of 2024

These Regulations, made under section 142 of the Water Act, apply to: public and private waterworks for water harvesting and storage; reservoirs for impounding surface run-off and for regulating stream flows to synchronise such waterworks with water demand patterns; structures and devices for flood control and management. The Regulations concern: classification of dams and other waterworks; requirements for construction of waterworks; implementation of water resources plan of the Water Storage Authority and right to store water; release and use of stored water; maintenance and management of waterworks; emergency management plans for dams affected by floods; strategic water emergency interventions; drought response plan; water supply and demand management; climate change and flood mitigation programme; national water resources storage and flood control data; water harvesting system and rainwater harvesting methods; licensing and authorisation of water sector professional; offences.
