Ministerial Decree No. 1730 validating the Regulation on protection of the national territory against quarantine objects and alien species.

This Ministerial Decree establishes that plant quarantine arrangements shall be aimed at protection of the national territory against quarantine objects, detection, localization and liquidation thereof, and also enforcement of plant quarantine legislation. The authorized institution shall issue unitary authorization for import and export of quarantine products and permits for import and export of cargo subject to quarantine and veterinary inspection. Quarantine arrangements shall be applicable to: (a) seeds and planting material; (b) collections of pests; (c) vegetables, fruits and edible nuts; (d) grains and cereals; (e) timber and packaging materials (except for synthetic materials); (f) means of transport arriving from foreign states or from areas under quarantine; (g) farms specialized in planting; and (h) agricultural land, forest land and water conservation areas.
