Abstract
This Regulation of the Forestry Development Authority (FDA) implements provisions of the National Forestry Reform Law of 2006 with respect to the processing of sawn timber and the marketing of timber products. It classifies and set out standards for processing equipment and requires all categories of processing permit holders to observe specified environmental impact measures. Such measures are also aimed at the protection of water. Waste from timber processing must not be deposited in watercourses or wetlands and waste facilities shall be kept at a specified distance from watercourses. No internationally-banned chemical shall be used for wood treatment. The Regulation sets out requirements and procedures to obtain various processing and marketing permits.
