Abstract
The purpose of this Law is to specify the institutional system in the field of geospatial information, incorporating the conditions for the preparation, use, exchange and maintenance of geospatial information (including geodetic and cartographic basic data) in order to create an infrastructure for geospatial information in the Republic of Latvia. The Law shall be applied to all natural persons and legal persons, the functions, tasks and activities of which are related to the circulation of geospatial information and joint use and re-use of such information. The Law shall apply to the circulation of geospatial information insofar as it is not in contradiction with the provisions for the circulation of geospatial information specified in special regulatory enactments and international contracts or to be implemented within the framework of international co-operation.
