Government Decision No. 610/2023 on the approval of Quality Requirements for fishery and aquaculture products.

The Decision approves quality requirements applicable to fishery and aquaculture products originating from domestic production and imports. It establishes the scope of application of the requirements and sets out classifications of products according to their commercial presentation, processing methods and product categories, including fresh, frozen, processed, canned and other fishery and aquaculture products.
The requirements regulate the quality and safety conditions applicable to the placing on the market of fishery and aquaculture products. They provide rules concerning production, processing, handling and quality control, including requirements relating to product characteristics, laboratory testing, hygiene conditions, processing methods, contaminants, additives, storage conditions and the verification of compliance with quality indicators. Specific provisions are established for frozen products, salted, smoked, dried and marinated products, semi-preserves, canned products, caviar, fish oil for human consumption, and products derived from crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates.
The Decision further establishes requirements concerning packaging, labelling, storage, transport and commercialization of fishery and aquaculture products. It specifies mandatory information to be provided to consumers, requirements for product identification and lot traceability, storage temperatures and transport conditions, as well as rules governing the presentation and marketing of particular categories of products. Additional provisions regulate the quality characteristics, packaging, labelling and transport of crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates intended for human consumption.
