Abstract
This Act makes provision in relation with the access to Fishery Waters of the Marshall Islands and the licensing and registration of fishing vessels or fishermen by the Authority.
The Act regulates access by foreign vessels to Fishery Waters of the Marshall Islands on the basis of access agreements and defines minimum terms for such agreements. It provides also for the implementation of multilateral access agreements or fisheries management agreements by the Authority. The Act further regulates transhipment and the licensing of domestic-based and foreign fishing vessels and related matters such as fees, reporting requirements, fishing plans attached to applications and scientific research. One provision of the Act concerns conditions for aquaculture and mariculture operations.
