Abstract
This Act among other things: amends the Marshall Islands Marine Resources Act, 1997 in the interpretation section and by providing for the powers and functions of the Authority (also with respect to giving effect to international conservation and management measures and international agreements; amends the Fisheries Act by inserting new Parts on the fishing in areas declared to be historic preservation sites and the prohibition of commercial taking of sharks and related activities such as the trade in sharks; amends the Fisheries Act by providing for the export of live fish, fish product or other marine resources; amends the Fishing Access and Licensing Act in provisions on transshipment of fish, issue of licences and fees; amends the Fisheries Enforcement Act with respect to new measures to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing; amends the Fisheries Enforcement Act with respect to the Marshall Islands Record of Fishing Vessels, use of vessels of other flags by Marshall Islands nationals beyond the Fishery Waters and Port State Measures and other enforcement measures, monitoring requirements, powers of authorized officers, duties of fish processing establishment operators; amends the Fisheries Enforcement Act by inserting a new Part on complaints, notices and investigations on decisions taken under the Act.

An Act to amend certain provisions under Title 51 of the Marshall Islands Revised Code, namely the Marshall Islands Marine Resources Act 1997 (51 MIRC Ch. 1), the Fisheries Act (51 MIRC Ch.2), Fishing Access and Licensing Act (51 MIRC Ch. 4) and the Fisheries Enforcement Act (51 MIRC Ch. 5) in order to address certain gaps, and to modernize such laws in light of recent development in international, regional, and sub-regional fisheries law.
