Abstract
An Act to regulate fishing and protect endangered species in the Republic. The text consists of 6 sections: Short title (1); Fishing with explosives, poison, chemicals, etc. (2); Limitations on taking of turtles (3); Control of sponges (4); Control of "pinctada margaritifera" (black-lip mother-of-pearl oyster shell) (5); Penalties for violation of Chapter (6).
The Minister may grant permission to use means prohibited in subsections (1) and (2) when he has determined that the (a) "purpose of obtaining the fish or other marine life is to avoid the waste or loss of such fish or marine life; and (b) consumption or sale of fish caught by means prohibited by Subsections (1) and (2) is not harmful or hazardous to health and human life (sect. 2).
