Abstract
This Law regulates the production, preparation, marketing, labelling and control of organic agricultural products (made with methods certified as organic production).
Basic principles of this Law are the food production with a certified value; protection of natural resources from pollution; sustainable rural socio-economic development; prevention of the use of harmful substances in crop and animal production.
Major objective of this Law is to ensure the: protection of organic production by establishing a better balance between supply and demand of agricultural products; protection of the biodiversity and planned use of natural resources; protection of consumers; control at all stages of production and marketing of organic products (expert control and inspection; internal and international trade issues); and to implement other functional and controlled issues related to the organic farming on the territory of the Republic of Macedonia.
Article 6 states the following: the principles of organic farming will be implemented in accordance with European and international standards for organic production.
This Law is divided into VI Chapters and 32 articles, including the offences and penalties.
