Abstract
This Law sets the minimum requirements for the protection and welfare of certain types of animals in terms of their breeding, keeping, care and housing, protection of animals at the farm holding, protection and welfare of animals during their transport and related activities, slaughtering or killing, also including the protection of dogs and pets, animals in zoos and the protection of animals used in experimental and other scientific purposes on the territory of the Republic of Macedonia.
The major objectives and purpose of this Law is to ensure the following: necessary animal treatment in the manner that best suits for their needs (complete animal welfare provisions); necessary protection and supervision over the animal welfare in various related terms (including the monitoring, inspection, data collection, certain administrative issues).
This Law is divided into VII Chapters and 58 articles, including the offences and penalties.

Entry into force notes
