Regulation on the manner and procedure for operation, monitoring and control of landfills during operation, as well as monitoring and control of landfills in the phase of closure and further care after landfill closure, as well as the manner and conditions for care of landfills after working stop.

This Regulation, based on the provisions of the national Law on waste management, prescribes the manner and procedure for operation, monitoring and control of the landfill during its activity/operation, including procedures for monitoring and control of the landfill during closing phase and further care of the landfill after closure, as well as the manner and conditions for care of landfills after they stop working. Obligations of the legal entity for monitoring and control of individual landfill classes should be part of the integrated environmental permit in accordance with the regulations for environmental protection. Procedures for monitoring the landfill during operation, as well as in the phase of closure and follow-up care are provided to check that: the waste is accepted for disposal in accordance with the criteria set for the appropriate landfill class; the procedures in the landfill are performed as planned and in accordance with waste management programmes; the environmental protection systems fully functions; the requirements of integrated environmental landfill permit are met in accordance with environmental protection regulations. Monitoring and control of the landfill during operation, as well as monitoring and landfill control in the closure phase and further landfill care after its closure is done by: collection of meteorological data from the landfill; monitoring and control of the parameters for emissions in air, water, leachate and landfill gas control; parameters for changing the composition of groundwater; monitoring of condition, structure and composition of the location where certain landfill is actually located.
