Abstract
This Regulation prescribes the conditions and minimum necessary standards for the protection and general welfare and well-being of farm animals.
This text further sets the rules to be met by breeders, holders, other technical staff; requirements as regards the education, equipment, training. Data collection, reporting, control and monitoring are also defined in relation to farm animal welfare principles, actions and aims.
This Regulation harmonizes the national legislation with the provisions contained in Council Directive 98/58/EC of 20 July 1998 concerning the protection of animals kept for farming purposes; Council Directive 2008/119/EC of 18 December 2008 laying down minimum standards for the protection of calves; and other, see end of page 1 for full list.
