Abstract
This Regulation specifies the food safety issues as regards the requirements in terms of composition and labelling of food containing vitamins and minerals.
This text further provides for additional information related to the particularities of food enriched with vitamins and minerals, as well as quantity, form and type of vitamins and minerals that can be added to foods.
These rules are also applied for the following: food for special nutritional use in the absence of special provisions; food and food ingredients produced with innovative technologies; genetically modified food; food additives and aromas; approved enological practices and processes.
This Regulation harmonizes the national legislation with the provisions contained in the Regulation (EC) No 1925/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 December 2006 on the addition of vitamins and minerals and of certain other substances to foods; Regulation (EC) No 108/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 15 January 2008 amending Regulation (EC) No 1925/2006 on the addition of vitamins and minerals and of certain other substances to foods; Commission Regulation (EC) No 1170/2009 of 30 November 2009 amending Directive 2002/46/EC of the European Parliament and of Council and Regulation (EC) No 1925/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards the lists of vitamin and minerals and their forms that can be added to foods, including food supplements; and other, see end of page 1.
The Annex is part of this publication (classification and technical specifications of permitted food ingredients/additives).
