Abstract
This Law regulates the basic principles and issues regarding the food and feed (feed for animals intended for food production) safety, general and specific hygiene requirements for food, organizational structure of the food security and rules defining the official controls.
The main purpose of this Law is to ensure a high level of protection of human health and consumer interests in relation to food, particularly taking into account the necessary diversity in the supply of food including traditional food features, also to ensure the effective functioning of the internal market (general principles and responsibilities of the food operators at all stages), further prescribing the method and procedures to support the process of decision-making in food and feed hygiene sector.
The Law is divided into X Chapters and 145 articles, including the offences and related penalties.
Entry into force notes
This Law enters into force eight days after its publication in the Official Gazette, and it will fully apply on 1 January 2011.
