Abstract
The purpose of this Regulation is to contribute towards ensuring biodiversity in the European Community through the conservation of natural habitats and of wild fauna and flora in the Maltese Islands. The Malta Environment and Planning Authority is charged with the setting up of the National Ecological Network, which shall be composed of sites characterized by one or more of the biodiversity features specified in regulation 5. Further provisions concern the establishment of protected sites, measures for the conservation of bird species, protection of flora and fauna, control of alien species, capture and killing methods, access to genetic resources.
