Abstract
These Regulations have been adopted in implementation of EEC Regulation No. 2081/92 concerning the protection of geographical indications and designations of origin for agricultural products and foodstuffs. The Malta Standards Authority is designated as the competent authority for the purposes of that EEC Regulation. Regulation 5 hereto concerns the designations of origin and geographical indication in respect of agricultural products or foodstuffs produced within the territory of Malta. Regulation 8 deals with the inspection structure to be established in order to ensure that agricultural products and foodstuffs bearing a protected name meet the requirements laid down in the specifications.
