Abstract
These Regulations, made by the Minister, on the advice of the Agricultural Marketing Board, under sections 13, 14 and 27 of the Mauritius Agricultural Marketing Act, provide for declaring by-catch fish and the products specified in the Third and Fourth Schedules as controlled products. The Regulations define: by catch fish as a fish species caught by a foreign tuna longline fishing vessel; downgraded fish, as a fish damaged trough fishing or handling operations; standards operation procedures. The Regulations concern: prohibition on removal or purchasing of by-catch fish originating from foreign tuna longline fishing vessels; penalties for misconduct; creation of a manual, known as the Standard Operations Procedures, for the purpose of the receipt, delivery, purchase, handling, transportation, processing, storage and sale of by-catch fish; establishment of a price committee.
