Abstract
An Act to provide for the establishment of the Agricultural Marketing Board as a body corporate, to provide for its functions and powers, and to regulate the marketing of controlled agricultural products.
"Controlled product" means an agricultural product, whether imported or locally produced, declared to be a controlled product, by the Minister, under section 13. The Board shall provide or ensure efficient marketing facilities for all controlled products at fair and reasonable prices, shall maintain a register of all producers, buying agents, millers and dealers, as required by section 16, shall operate facilities for the storage, handling, transport and processing of controlled products, shall import, export or otherwise deal in controlled products, shall take market stabilisation measures in respect of controlled products, and shall regulate the standards and quality of controlled products. Section 11 outlines in detail the powers of the Board. Part III and IV of the Act (sects. 13-22) outline measures which may be taken either by the Minister or the Board with respect to the marketing of controlled products including the fixing of prices.
