Abstract
This Act provides for the setting up of a National Agricultural Products Regulatory Office (NAPRO), which shall, among other things: (a) control and regulate the import, export, production and sale of products specified in the First Schedule ("regulated products"); (b) control and regulate the preparation, processing, packing and manufacturing of regulated products; (c) regulate the activities and premises in connection with the slaughtering of animals; (d) determine the prices at which green leaf and leaf tobacco are traded.
The Act also, among other things: requires a licence to be issued by NAPRO for various operations involving meat, cultivation of green leaf or tobacco; or production, preparation, manufacturing, processing and packing of tea products and tobacco products; provides rules for the sale of game, deer, wild pigs and venison; regulates farm contracting; provides for the control by NAPRO of the import and export of controlled products; and provides for the arbitration of disputes. NAPRO shall keep a register of issued licences.
