Decree No. 50/2020 creating the Public Institute of Almonds of Mozambique (IAM, IP).

This Decree, consisting of 28 articles, creates the Public Institute of Almonds of Mozambique (IAM, IP). It establishes composition, competencies and duties of this national Institute, entitled to perform the following activities: a) promote commercialization, processing, industrialization and export of almonds; b) supervise the activities of promotion, production, commercialization, industrialization and exportation of almonds; c) research and transfer of technologies for the production, processing and industrialization of almonds; d) analyse and decide on the pertinence of introducing seeds, plants or plant products of almonds in the country; e) promote awareness programmes for the population on measures to control pests and diseases, prevent and combat uncontrolled fires; f) make the classification and the attribution of technological quality of almonds for import/export; g) ensure the observance of the technical norms of production, soil conservation and protection of the environment in the implementation of actions related to the cultivation and industrialization of almonds; h) coordinate actions with the stakeholders related to the almond value chain in the areas of production, marketing, processing, industrialization and export; i) relaunch and ensure the flow of production from cultures in the absence of private agents; j) establish agreements, contracts, cooperation and other forms of liaison with similar national and foreign bodies and institutions directly or indirectly engaged in the above mentioned activities; k) establish partnerships for research programmes on almonds, with a view to developing business within and outside the country, etc.
