Decree No. 88/2021 creating the National Institution of the Sea (INAMAR, IP.).

This Decree, consisting of 247 articles divided into five Chapters, creates the National Institution of the Sea (INAMAR, IP.). It establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned INAMAR IP, entitled to perform the following activities: a) exercising maritime authority in marine, lake, river and coastal areas, as well as in the areas of maritime administration, security and protection; b) planning maritime zoning and the maritime public domain of the coastal zone; c) inspection of activities in the maritime, river and lake areas and in the maritime public domain of the coastal zone, complying with rules on the protection of marine and coastal ecosystems, conservation and exploitation of marine conservation areas; d) development and application of measures ensuring the sustainable exploitation, conservation and preservation of aquatic ecosystems; e) carry out and/or coordinate search and rescue activities, including goods, in maritime, river and lake areas, with the involvement of other relevant entities.
