Abstract
This Law regulates credit institutions and financial associations. It consists of 10 chapters defining: Institutions involved in the credit sector (including boards and cooperatives) (Chap. 1); Requirements to be satisfied by Mozambican institutions, (including detailed information for requesting credits, to be submitted to the Bank of Mozambique) (2); Activity to be performed in a foreign country by Mozambican institutions (3); Activity to be performed within Mozambican territory by foreign institutions (4); Registration (5); Functioning, rights and obligations (6 and 7); Control and sanctions (8 and 9); Final provisions (10).

This Law repeals all contrary provisions and in particular: Decrees No. 34/92 of 6 October 1992 and No. 43/89 of 28 December 1989.
