Abstract
This Act establishes a fisheries zone contiguous to the territorial seas of Pitcairn, Henderson, Ducie and Oeno Islands of 200 miles and provides rules relative to foreign and domestic fishing in that zone.
Some provisions concern fishing by foreign fishing boats and require, pursuant to an Order of the Governor, foreign and local boats to obtain a licence to fish in the zone. An Order may apply to fishing in general or to a specified fishery. The licence may carry specific limitations or conditions. The Ordinance further provides for the proof of offences, the appointment of Fisheries Officers, powers of enforcement and legal proceedings in respect of offenders and regulation-making powers of the Governor.
