Abstract
This Act provides for the restriction of powers of the Government to cancel the status of demarcated forests and prohibits the use of forest land for non-forest purposes (other than reafforestation).
The Act further provides for the establishment of a forest conservation advisory committee, offences and penalties and rule making powers of the Government to carry out provisions of this Act.
