Regulation No. 5 on salmon fishing.

This Regulation of the Government of Greenland sets out rules for both commercial and non-commercial salmon fishing within Greenland’s waters. It establishes that fishing may only be carried out with a license issued by the authorities, with different requirements for professional and private fishers. Only specific gear is allowed, salmon catches are subject to quotas set annually in line with international agreements, and all catches—including zero catches—must be reported to the Greenland Fisheries License Control. Commercial catches can only be sold under strict conditions, and both types of fishing must stop once quotas are reached. Violations of these rules may result in fines under Greenland’s criminal law.
