Abstract
The present Greenland Home Rule regulation establishes comprehensive rules for the protection and hunting of birds within the territory. It mandates that only holders of valid hunting licenses may hunt birds or collect eggs, and generally places all bird species under total protection, with exceptions for specific species during regulated hunting seasons. Hunting quotas and geographic zones are strictly defined, distinguishing between professional and recreational hunters. The regulation also outlines rules for egg collection, protects bird colonies and specific bird sanctuaries, and bans practices such as hunting from moving boats or using motorized vehicles. It restricts the sale, export, and captivity of birds, requires permits for scientific use, and allows for stricter local rules and exceptions for scientific, veterinary, or safety purposes. Violations are punishable by fines.
