Regulation No. 30 on the protection and capture of birds.

The present Regulation of the Government of Greenland regulates the protection and hunting of birds across Greenland’s land and marine territories. It outlines who may hunt or collect eggs (requiring valid licenses), the designated hunting zones and seasons for specific bird species, and detailed daily hunting quotas based on license type. All bird species are generally protected, with exceptions listed in annexes, and specific areas and bird colonies are subject to strict protections and activity restrictions. The regulation also governs egg collection, methods of hunting, trade limitations, reporting duties, and local administration options. Violations may lead to fines and confiscation of catch.
In relation to previous rules, this regulation introduced clearer definitions, more detailed regional management zones with specific coordinates, expanded quotas and differentiated rules for professional and recreational hunters, and additional restrictions on egg collection and disturbance near bird colonies. It also formalized drone and aircraft restrictions, required more systematic reporting, permitted local management through municipal regulations, and updated enforcement mechanisms.
