Abstract
This Law provides rules relative to the collection, handling, treatment and disposal of waste including hazardous waste and provides for the licensing of waste operations. The Law also concerns transboundary movement of waste and implements in Jersey the Basel Convention on the Control of Transboundary Movements of Hazardous Wastes and their Disposal.
Various types of waste are defined and some of these classified as "controlled waste" or "hazardous wastes". The OECD control procedures are made applicable to certain wastes. The Minister shall be the principal administrative body for purposes of this Law and shall within Jersey be the competent authority in respect of: (a) the export of waste from Jersey; and (b) the import of waste into Jersey.
