Regulation no. WJZ/96877398 of 2025, on measures in the protection and surveillance zone for the control of highly pathogenic avian influenza in Idsegahuizum

This Regulation, implementing provisions of Articles 5.2, 5.4, 5.5, 5.6, 5.7 and the second paragraph of Article 6.3 of the Animal Law, and the Regulation (EU) 2016/429 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 9 March 2016 concerning the area of animal health, and the Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2020/687 of 17 December 2019 supplementing Regulation (EU) 2016/429 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards rules for the prevention and control of certain listed diseases, contains specific measures to be applied in the protection and surveillance zone in connection with the control of highly pathogenic avian influenza in Idsegahuizum. The Regulation defines the following terms: protection zone; commercially kept birds; hygiene protocol; ornamental waterfowl; waterfowl, as swans, geese, ducks, divers, cormorants, herons, storks, ibises, flamingos, grebes, cranes, rails, waders, gulls and terns; bird habitat. Matters covered by the Regulation include: designation of protection and surveillance zone; movement of animals or products in the protection zone or the surveillance zone; restriction on movements and particularly on movement of birds, hatching eggs, fresh bird meat from a slaughterhouse or game processing facility, bird meat products, eggs intended for human consumption, bird manure and litter, skins, hides or feathers of birds and other animal by-products from birds; additional prohibitions including: moving bird carcasses; movement of animals other than birds and animal products derived therefrom; transport of animal feed; other rules including: obligation to screen birds; notification of increase in illness or mortality or decrease in production; disinfection facilities; prohibition on re-introduction of wild birds; prohibition on application of manure in the soil.
